When affluent families from Mexico look to relocate this year, their top-choice is The Woodands, Texas

The wealthy "upper-class" of Mexico is naturally attracted to the safe neighborhoods, trendy shops, top restaurants and entertainment plus its famous world-class golf courses and country clubs.

According to Leila Aguilar, realtor with the Van Joslin Real Estate Company, "The Woodlands is in high-demand among my clients in Mexico City." Recently, the highest priced home sold in The Woodlands, a $5.8 million dollar mansion...was purchased by a client of Hank Van Joslin of Van Joslin Real Estate Company in the exclusive gated Carlton Woods community in The Woodlands.

"With rising crime levels, kidnapping, violence, pollution and escalating costs of living in Mexico City, The Woodlands represents a 'safe-haven' for many of my affluent Mexican clients with children," notes Ms Aguilar.

In Mexico City you often have to live behind tall walls and gates for safety. But in The Woodlands, parents feel safe with their children playing outside, joining soccer leagues and attending public schools.

Shopping is abundant in The Woodlands. Grocery Stores such as
H-E-B, Kroger and Randalls have many convenient locations. And for culinary experts, Hubbell and Hudson can serve every gourmet need. Woodlands homes average just $125 per square foot compared to almost $2000 per square foot in Mexico City. But The Woodlands is such an amazing bargain with amenities such as golf courses, hike and bike trails...and of course, the shopping.

With so many new affluent Mexican residents in The Woodlands, many joke that The Woodlands is becoming the "nicest suburb in Mexico!"

And it's not a joke to the business community.
