Advertising With Banners, or banner ads, is a simple and effective way to generate interest in what you are promoting. Using internet banner ads will generate traffic to your website, which in turn will generate income. All the internet browser needs to do is to click, or double click, on the banner and he, or she, is directed to the site of the advertiser in an action known as a click through.

In general the banner advertisement functions in the same fashion as the more traditional ones. Consumers are informed of available services, or products, and the many reasons why such things are needed by the consumer. What differs is that the effects of an advertising campaign can be tracked immediately and tailored to suit the individual customers.

The placement of an ad is usually on a page that contains information of interest, such as an article of news or an editorial. Affiliates are compensated with a small fee, just a few cents, being paid every time a unique user clicks on the banner. Delivery of these ads are made possible by a central ad server.

One factor in the success of a banner is where it is placed on a page. Most advertisers prefer to place them at the very top. The internet surfer then has little choice but to see the ad. Some find them quite annoying. Yet without that annoyance the advertisements would not fulfill their purpose successfully and would not generate the revenue hoped for.

Another factor in a banner ad achieving success for the advertiser is the number of ads on the same web page. The fewer the better. Of course, the ideal situation is for it to be the only one on a particular page.

Many different sizes, styles and shapes are available to create just the right ad for the business. Pixels, a monitor's smallest color unit, are the measurement used for these ads. By far the most popular for advertisers is the full banner that has a pixel size of 468 x 60. Other often used sizes are the micro button (88 x 31), button 1 (120 x 90), button 2 (120 x 60), square button (125 x 125), a vertical banner (120 x 240), a half banner (238 x 60), and a full banner with a side navigation bar (392 x 72).

The key component to a successful ad campaign are the graphics. If it is not interesting and does not catch the eye an average viewer will not bother to click on the ad. The pictures seen as part of the banner can be anything from a simple picture to something animated to a full media presentation. Moving pictures and matching sound are at times used.

Benefits to Advertising With Banners, or banner ads, can prove to be the right choice for you in increasing interest in your product. Their ability to increase favorable traffic to your site is only limited by the placing of the ad on a particular page. After all it is unknown how many people will view it.
